Fueling-up for test flight

Registration done!

Finally N81MF is registered at the FAA!
This basically means that we the necessary test flight can be done by a test pilot.
Once the test pilot signs off that everything is working and is according to regulations,
we can start our trip and head eastwards, well north-eastwards. ;-)

Updating the Avionics

Today we are busy updating all the Garmin avionics. Quite a bit of work since
we need to update 3 devices, each with a Basemap, Obstacles, Terrain, SafeTaxi, Flight Charts and NavData. Not to forget that we need all of that for NorthAmerica and Europe!
We are loading the European data on SD Cards with which we will update the Avionics once we have arrived in GooseBay.

Now we are just waiting for the FAA to finally give green light for the registration.
Please keep your fingers crossed...!

Jack Daniel's

Hi Folks,
this afternoon we went to Lynchburg, Tennessee to go see the Jack Daniel's Distillery.
Was pretty interesting, eventhough we were there on a Sunday, means they are not allowed to serve or sell any Whiskey at all. Here a few impressions of the Distillery...

Arrival of a Crew member

Ok, plane looks fantastic. Much bigger than I thought! Now we are going to the Jack Daniels destillery. By the way, immigration kept me for over an hour yesterday because of a very old story back in 95.

MU2 Team complete

Good news! Our friend Stefan finally arrived in Nashville! Our Trip-Team is now complete and we will start our first expedition shortly!

First inspection

Yesterday we had the pleasure to inspect the MU2. The guys at Carpenter Avionics did a great job,
the Cockpit looks awesome. Rest assured they know what they are doing, we were not able to find any loose cables or connectors.

The painter has already done a touch-up and today he will polish the whole plane, he promised it will almost look like brand-new.

MU2-First inspection

Good morning America!

Good News first, Tan made it to Nashville/Smyrna. It took him endless hours of discussion with TSA
to convince them, that this Lifeboat is safe and legal to be transported in an Airplane! He was barely able to jump on the last Flight down here and, Yes the stupid boat is here as well.

 Life boat

We are now looking for some good quality american style breakfast at Waffle House, before we are heading to the Airport to go see the "Rice Rocket". Stay tuned!

Life boat stories

Finally I have arrived here in Smyrna, a bit outside of Nashville. Tan unfortunately got stuck in Newark Airport due to the life boat (needed for transatlantic ferry flights) he packed in his luggage. According to TSA thats not safe and can't be transported in an airplane! Dudes, that's what it's build for! Hope he will make it down here shortly, will keep you posted.

Departure towards Nashville

We are about to board a 777 heading to New York/Newark then further to Nashville. If everything goes well, we will have a quick view of the Aircraft tonight. Stay tuned, we'll update you shortly!
